Pray for Japan from San Diego

I started the Pray for Japan from San Diego project about one month ago.

Please visit our website.
Pray for Japan from San Diego

I believe my little country is strong. I hope everything recovers as quickly as possible, but there is a lot of damage. It will take a long time to recover. It was really scary for me too. I can't do anything from here. I only pray for my family, friends and my little country. That's why I started this project.

People forget about big problems very fast. We think Japan earthquake and
Pacific tsunami relief needs to be a long term support effort.

Thank you.
Blue sky, we pray for Japan from San Diego

Osekihan (Red beans with sweet rice)

Osekihan (Red beans with sweet rice) is Japanese traditional food. Actually I cooked it for the first time today! It was much easier than I thought. The red color is from the red beans. The natural color is very beautiful! Of course That was so delicious :)

New Years Day Lunch

I cooked Ozoni. This is Japanese traditional new years dish.
Every family has their own zoni recipe.

My family recipe is very simple.
Fish broth, soy sauce, salt, daikon radish, carrot and chicken.
garnish with seri or mitsuba. I couldn't get either so I used Italian parsley.
Ha! of course Mochi! The mochi is hiding in the bowl.

You have to be careful when eating mochi. I read in the Japanese news that already 4 people died by choking on mochi. (mostly old people...)

Kiriboshi Daikon (Dried Daikon radish)

Reconstitute the dried daikon radish in water for 10 min.
Squeeze out excess water. Stew with fish broth, soy sauce, sugar and Aburaage(deep fried tofu) until liquid is absorbed.

Green Beans with Ginger

Tonight's dinner was vegetarian food.
Green beans, Baked kabocha and Quinoa.

Chop the ends off the green beans. Add to boiling water with a pinch of salt. boil for about 1 minute and half and drain the water.

Combine 3tbs soy sauce, 1tbs mirin, 1tbs mentsuyu (Japanese noodle soup). Put this sauce on boiled green beans. Top with ground ginger.

Simple simple simple cooking but you do taste the green beans.

hibi- wear

I took a ceramics class at college. It was the third semester for me.
I practiced on the wheel so hard! It's called throwing. I learned a lot from my teacher. Finally I made useful hibi-wears!
I really liked this brown cray and green glaze.

Throwing is really fun and It's kind of meditation. I really want to come back to ceramics class sometime soon. I think... I need meditation sometimes :)

Lemon Sage Linguine part 1

I bought fresh lemon sage linguine and garlic basil pesto at Kensington farmer's market. I smelled the linguine and It was fresh and lemony.

I boiled the linguine really carefully because I needed perfect al dente!! The pesto tasted sooooo good. I think I will buy more. I also sauted Mahi Mahi. Fresh squeezed lemon gave a nice kick!

Shrimp and Beans soup

I became a bean eater. Recently I have been cooking beans instead of rice.
I like lentil beans a lot.

Shrimp broth adds good flavor.
Simple but tasty!
